Since the release of the debut album Standing Steady in 2010, Serengeti have been touring extensively including shows in 11 countries and opened for acts such as Public Enemy and Looptroop Rockers. The Rebellious Hearts tour is already underway and in the same way Beyonce tours with The Sugar Mamas, Serengeti formed the all female backing band The Empress Union. This conscious and proactive decision to tour with female back up is not new, Serengeti have toured with DjLady Louise since 2009. Because of the continued lack of visible female musicians within all genres Serengeti aim to present more female roll models working with music. Serengeti continue working with the agenda of making music with a message of equality and inspiring change.
